CPUT Capoeira Society Club was formed by Instructor Zumbi keen to spread his love of Capoeira within the university and the wider community in Cape Town. The style of Capoeira we practice is called Capoeira Regional

Can anybody train capoeira?

There’s a lot to learn in capoeira! It’s like taking a martial arts class, a dance class, a gymnastics class, and a music class all at once. Every new student can expect to be good as some parts of class and be challenged by others. At Brazilian Capoeira we have classes for children as young as 4 through Adults of any age. We believe everyone can benefit from capoeira as they refine their strengths and have the opportunity to improve their weaknesses.

What are the benefits I will receive from capoeira training?

You’ll be amazed how training capoeira will positively affect almost every area of your life. Whether your goal is to lose weight, develop flexibility, endurance, or strength, you’ll find the help you need in capoeira class. Capoeira students find they build confidence, learn to step outside of their comfort zone, develop leadership skills, and form lasting relationships. And let’s face it: this stuff is cool.

What if I want more?

New students don’t immediately qualify for all of the training options available at Brazilian Capoeira. After a short introductory period of training, many students choose to apply for the Leadership training program and discover how much more they can get out of training capoeira. Capoeira is and always has been a tool for creating effective members of society. This leadership training program provides students with a focused curriculum that helps them refine and apply the benefits of capoeira training to their personal, professional, and family life.

Get in the best shape of your life and have a great time doing it!

Give our intro program a try and you'll see how capoeira is so much more than just a martial arts class. Sure, it's a great workout, but that's just the beginning. Capoeira is also a lot of fun! Actually enjoying your workout is key to getting the most out of it and sticking with it. This isn't just a group of people standing around kicking a bag or dancing to music. You're constantly learning new things and challenging yourself in new and exciting ways. You'll see real progress and will never get bored with this.
